Overview
Becorn is a Master's degree final project in game development. This cozy cooperative game invites two players to embody small forest creatures made entirely of vegetation. In this miniature world seen at a macro scale, each leaf becomes a blanket and every twig a precious tool. Together, players manage a crafting workshop in a village of Becorns, responding to the various needs of its inhabitants by creating furniture, tools, and useful objects. Cooperation is at the heart of every aspect of the game: players must explore the surroundings to collect raw resources, then transform them into usable materials using various machines that require two pairs of hands to function efficiently. Each machine offers a unique cooperative mini-game: synchronized wood sawing, leaf sewing, and more. Coordination between players is essential, as the Becorns can accomplish much more together than separately. As orders are fulfilled, players progress through different levels, discovering new resources, machines, and recipes. The relaxed and positive atmosphere encourages teamwork rather than rushing, offering a soothing gaming experience where every small victory is shared. Developed with Unreal Engine 5, this final project represents the culmination of our education and features a unique artistic direction inspired by the works of David M. Bird, creating an enchanting miniature universe where nature becomes the playground for your cooperative adventures.
